The Grammys are like the championship, and that's cool. Music industry people – and, whether I like it or not, I'm a music industry person – that's the game I came up in. It's like a player in any ball league – NFL, NBA, whatever – you come up in these systems of organisation, and you can hate the league but, at the end of the day, you can't hate the championship.
Were you excited about that? Does this kind of thing matter to you?
I imagine the six Grammy nominations you got recently were nowhere near as exciting. Channel Orange is the Guardian's album of the year.
